The script Tomi written by the Finnish scriptwriter Lassi Markus King was awarded a prize by the NISI MASA Script Contest 2004 on the theme "Other".
Right after the good news, the production company Double Cross Mediahouse Ltd. and G.R.E.C., the provider of the prize, began organising the production of Tomi, led by director and scriptwriter Lassi Markus King.
Contest 2004 Award winner, Michal Szczesniak was contacted by great Polish director Krzysztof Zanussi for the production of his script, "A Boat". Mr. Zanussi liked so much the awarded script that he offered assistance in production, and proposed Kuba Kosma, young independent producer, to follow the project.
After returning from the NISI MASA Scriptwriting workshop Write it short! in Angers (January 2005), Michal started to work with Kuba. Together they had dozens of conversations with each other and with Polish professional filmmakers.
During 2003, NISI MASA began organising the production of On a Train (Contest 2002 Award Winner), by Barnabas Toth. NISI MASA thus found a production company in Paris, Envie de Tempête Productions, which took on the responsibilities of executive producer.
From January to April 2003, both organisations prepared to shoot the film: looking for additional funding, managing production, etc.
