CINE BOAT FILMS

Polyglot: on they way to Turku. 

6 great documentaries are the result of the amazing adventures of our sailors from Cine-Boat, a filmmaking workshop that was part of the Polyglot: on the way to Turku project, organised by NISI MASA with the support of the Turku 2011 European Cultural Capital and the European Cultural Foundation.

Istanbul Express

Istanbul Express was an itinerant filmmaking workshop involving 50 participants, who crossed the rails of Europe to make short documentaries.

The Istanbul Express films had their world premiere at the Cannes Critics' Week 2011.

"Visions of Prague" DVD

 After filmmaking explorations of Paris, Istanbul, Kars and Budapest, the NISI MASA “Visions Of” workshop went to Prague, from 22nd to 29th of August 2010. Prague is a place of history and a crossroad of culture. More and more young people are travelling around Europe. But they don’t often really go into the city itself and its social and cultural diversity. This meeting aimed to go further that the tourist point of view and make the young people reflect about the European diversity thanks to the social cross-road that could represent a city and the exchange between young people.

Scamps - production now completed

 Ülkü Oktay was one of the three winners of Nisi Masa Script Contest 2008 with her scripts Scamps.

Scamps tells a travel adventure set in Eastern Turkey through the eyes of two young schoolboys. A "feel-good" story that gives beautiful insights into the country and its culture. Ülkü Oktay is finalising post-production.

Furniture - production now completed

 Furniture, by Melissa Suarez del Real was one of the winners of the NISI MASA European Short Script Contest 2008.
 
This film shows us that It’s not clear enough whether self-assembly furniture triggers couple conflicts or if couple conflicts trigger self-assembly furniture purchase !
 
There were some troubles in the organization of the production and shooting because of the lack of a production crew. Melissa found a solution by speaking with friends: Old friends who study in film school offered to get some free equipment for her. Old friends who are architects volunteered to find the piece of land with a fallen building that she needs, thanks to the pathology department in their university. Old friends also know good actors. Old friends just want to help. At the end, the collective spirit of filmmaking is, at this time, working better than any production company for her.

Recent productions by European Short Pitch Alumni

All the following films was developed and produced in the framework of the different editions of European Short Pitch. They have been screened at the International Critic’s Week during the Cannes International Film Festival 2010.


 Whispering in a friend’s mouth

After the nice career of If I fall, Hannaleena Hauru has just finished her new short film, Whispering in a friend’s mouth. Developed during European Short Pitch 2009, the script tells us the story of two teenagers making graffiti and have ended up kissing. The short film is subtly examining the borderline between platonic and romantic love through two linking time levels.

The film has been shot in three nights concentrating on hours right after sun set and the hours just before dawn.

Hannaleena’s short film has been selected for the Berlinale 2010 in the sections Short film 14plus2 et Generation Mix. It has been screened in the frame of the Critic’s week during the Cannes International Film Festival.

The film was supported by the Finnish Film Foundation.

PRODUCTION OF "TOURIST"

The script of this film was winner of the 5th edition of the NISI MASA European Script Contest for short films, the theme of which was “Tourist”.

This film was directed by its awarded scriptwriter, the polish Matej Subieta.

DVD SILENCE - 4TH SCRIPT CONTEST

In 2005, the theme of the 4th edition of the annual NISI MASA Script Contest was "Silence". The 3 winning films were produced and have been compiled into a DVD.

'Lily' now completed!

  NISI MASA is happy to bring out another new short film based on a script awarded in its European Script Contest for short film scripts (2005 edition - "Silence"). Lily is the debut film of Marianne Griolet (Sweden), and is divided into five parts. In the first and the last sections we see two people in a park, the second shows a very special university lecture, the third is at a party where a mysterious CD is being played, and the fourth is a car trip which ends in a surprising way…
