Freedom, utopia and debate… A European short film creation and reflexion around May '68.
Five teams from Czech Republic, Turkey, Italy, Germany and France were formed to work on an ambitious short film project.
The reflexion and the creative approach of the project have been developed around May '68, and more widely on the period leading to the events and then the consequences nowadays. The people taking part, lead by Stephane Elmadjian as artistic director, will try to find out what remains from this period in their respective countries in order to make a collaborative, European and international creation. As the anniversary period of May '68 will see a lot of works and representations meant to illustrate it, the approach of the subject will be deliberately unconventional.
The workshop involved a mixed editorial team of European and Turkish journalists. 8 daily issues of NISIMAZINE were published during the festival in Turkish and English.
Additional NISIMAZINE workshops took place in Autumn 2008 at the Cinéma Verité Iran Documentary Film Festival (Tehran), International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam - IDFA (The Netherlands) and the Torino Film Festival (Italy). Please see our 'news' section for the full press release!

7th - 13th November: Kars, Eastern Turkey
5 European participants travelled to Kars, where their challenge will be to produce a film from one single plan sequence.
Kars is a suitable city for this kind of filming, since its scenery is very convenient for long takes. An intersection point of Armenian, Caucasian, Russian and Turkish cultures, the architecture and design reflects this diversity.
