Recent productions by European Short Pitch Alumni

All the following films was developed and produced in the framework of the different editions of European Short Pitch. They have been screened at the International Critic’s Week during the Cannes International Film Festival 2010.


 Whispering in a friend’s mouth

After the nice career of If I fall, Hannaleena Hauru has just finished her new short film, Whispering in a friend’s mouth. Developed during European Short Pitch 2009, the script tells us the story of two teenagers making graffiti and have ended up kissing. The short film is subtly examining the borderline between platonic and romantic love through two linking time levels.

The film has been shot in three nights concentrating on hours right after sun set and the hours just before dawn.

Hannaleena’s short film has been selected for the Berlinale 2010 in the sections Short film 14plus2 et Generation Mix. It has been screened in the frame of the Critic’s week during the Cannes International Film Festival.

The film was supported by the Finnish Film Foundation.



 Family

Peter, a 19-year-old student, lives with his family: a domineering mother, a silly sister and an annoying granny. His ambition is to study at a university, so to practise for the entrance test Peter needs solitude, silence and time.

The script of this film was developped in the frame of European Short Film 2009. This film was directed by its bulgarian scriptwriter, Lyubomir Pechev.

Family was selected in "Trieste Film Festival", "Early Bird Film Fest." and "Forum Honoris Cauza". It won the audience award and the prize for best director at the "Forum Honoris Cauza".



 The Change

The script of The Change was selected for European short pitch 2008.

This film is about a man who ?lls up the tank of his car, in a gas station lost on a lonely highway. The gas station’s keeper runs away without giving him back his change. The man, to get even with him, steals one of his personal belongings…

The short film has been shot in red cam, thanks to the help of the torino film commission.



 Rita


Presented at the 3rd edition of European Short Pitch, Rita, from the italians Antonio Piazza et Fabio Grassadonia, has been produced and selected in several famous international film festivals . This film is a sensitive experience about a blind child, sheltering a young thief on the run who suddenly breaks into her home.

It has been awarded with the Prize for the Best Short Film at the Bratislava International Film Festival “for innovations of a film language and for a contrast between beauty of an image and a horror of the story”. Rita has been selected to participate at several international film festivals like Rotterdam and Angers Premiers Plans 2010, where it won the Arte Prize for European Short Film.
 


 Stanka goes home

The script of Maya Vitkova and Radu Jude, Stanka Goes Home, has been developed in the frame of European Short Pitch 2007.

The film is about Mrs. Stanka Atanasova, an elderly and sick woman who enters her block of flats and discoverthat the elevator is out of order. Stanka must use the stairs to get to the ninth floor, and what for most of us is a simple task, becomes a challenge for her. As the writer Radu Jude said, Stanka Goes Home is a story about being humiliated by life and about loneliness. 


This film was selected at the International Short Film Festival,Hamburg 2010; International Critics' Week ,Cannes 2010; Worldwide Short Film Festival, Toronto 2010; Festival de Cine de Huesca, Huesca 2010. It get an award for "the short film that best emphasises human values" 2010, the Special Mention of the YOUTH JURY of the 38th Festival de Cine de Huesca! 2010; the Francisco García de Paso Award, Festival de Cine de Huesca.
